The Intelligent Media Initiative began in 2005 with the support of HEIF2 funding.
The idea was originally developed by Stephen Emmott and Professor Philip Treleavan of UCL. As the concept has developed, it has become a shared resource for the partners and other academic institutions to promote intelligent media research and drive industry collaboration in this important and emergent area of research.
The IMI is not a funding body. It has resources to develop thematic research areas, to host and organise meetings, events and workshops and to facilitate, help develop and find funding for multi-disciplinary collaborative research projects.
The IMI is exploring the technologies and applications that will make our environments more 'intelligent' and enable enhanced user experiences.
