The IMI works through developing themeatic areas which are of interest to researchers in many disciplines. By taking a high-level focus on application areas and economic sectors in the creative industries, the IMI activities can engage academics and business focussing on many different 'sub-parts' of the 'problem' - from psychology to design to technology to science.
Through a programme of innovative workshops meetings and events, the IMI facilitates interaction between leading researchers and businesses and encourages the identification and funding of multi-disciplinary projects which open up the future of Intelligent Media. In this way, issues projects and methodologies emerge which are amenable to multi-disciplinary research and collaboration.
